Detecting fire in tough locations such as sites with high levels of dust, and those affected by steam, and where noise levels are high can be problematic. Heat detectors and even visual alarms are often recommended for such areas.
Compartmentation and Spread
Open-plan production floors can be particularly vulnerable to fire, enabling it to spread rapidly. Thus, production and storage areas need to be compartmentalized by means of fire doors, cavity barriers and separating walls of appropriate construction.
